At FANPhysique, we believe that sustainable nutrition plans should be designed with flexibility and freedom in mind. That's why we developed the FANFlexible Deficit strategy, a unique approach that allows you to occasionally borrow calories from future days while still maintaining a weekly calorie deficit.

With FANFlexible Deficit, you can enjoy occasional treats or deviations from your daily calorie budget without feeling guilty or derailing your progress. This approach is especially beneficial for those who struggle with strict diet plans and find it hard to stick to their goals in the long term.

Here's how FANFlexible Deficit works:

  1. Use the calculated daily calorie budget that your coach has prescribed to you based on your goals and current activity level.

  2. Aim to stay within your daily calorie budget as much as possible.

  3. If you exceed your calorie budget on one day, you can "borrow" up to 15% of your total calorie budget from the next day's budget.

  4. This means that if your daily calorie budget is 2000 calories, you can borrow up to 300 calories (15% of 2000) from the next day's budget.

  5. You can borrow calories for up to three consecutive days to make up for any overages.

  6. If you plan to use this strategy, you must let your coach know in advance and add it to your weekly accountability report.

It's important to note that when using FANFlexible Deficit, it's best not to borrow too much from a single day. Instead, you can spread the borrowed calories across multiple days to avoid excessive fluctuations in your calorie intake. For example, if you need to borrow 500 calories, you can deduct 166 calories from three future days (166 calories per day). Keep in mind that on those days, you will need to eat less than usual by 166 calories. To make sure you're on track, log the borrowed calories in MyFitnessPal for each day where you have reduced your calorie intake.
